Understanding Men’s & Women’s Sizing

Clothing sizes for men and women follow different systems due to the natural variations in body shapes and how garments are designed.

Men’s Sizes: Typically, men’s clothing uses direct measurements (in inches or centimeters) for key areas like the chest, waist, and inseam. For example, a size “38” jacket refers to a chest measurement of 38 inches. This straightforward system ensures a precise fit based on physical measurements.

Women’s Sizes: Women’s sizing is more generalized, using numbers like 8, 10, 12, etc. These sizes account for variations in body proportions (bust, waist, hips) and are designed to fit different body shapes more flexibly. The number itself doesn’t refer to a specific measurement but rather a range of measurements for various body areas.

Different Fits

When choosing your size, it’s important to understand the fit of the garment. At Uni Style Image, we offer three main fit categories to suit different preferences and body types:

• Smart Fit: A closer, more tailored fit, perfect for a sleek and sharp look. It contours the body, offering a refined silhouette. Our #Concept11 and its extensions embody this fit, featuring tightly knitted fabrics for a polished finish.

• Classic Fit: A balanced fit between sharpness and ease, slightly looser than Smart Fit. It provides structure with a comfortable feel. The #Pi-11 Polo from USI reflects this classic fit, ideal for those who prefer a timeless, structured style.

• Relaxed Fit: The loosest of the three, designed for maximum comfort and movement without sacrificing style. The #Pik-32 Polo is an example of this fit, perfect for a laid-back, casual look.

Fabric Elasticity and Construction

The feel and fit of a garment also depend on the fabric construction and its elasticity. Fabrics differ based on how they are woven or knitted, affecting both comfort and durability:

• Tightly Woven Fabrics: Offer less stretch, providing a structured and durable feel. Common in garments like denim or formal shirts, these fabrics tend to hold their shape. This is seen in our #Concept11 Smart Fit designs, which feature tightly knitted fabric for a firm and stylish appearance.

• Loosely Woven Fabrics: Provide more flexibility and softness but may have less durability and structure. These fabrics are often used in more casual, flowy styles, like in our #Pik-32 Polo.

• Knitted Fabrics: Knits naturally stretch and move with the body, making them perfect for relaxed fits, T-shirts, and casualwear. They offer flexibility and comfort for everyday wear, like in our #Pi-11 Relax Fit Polo.
